yay. as always, a huge fan of the ezine b-coolt and the site i mentioned in the previous post got published, yup. sweet.
also, it's a holiday in brazil today so i'm off from work from thursday to sunday. not bad at all. i actually had planned to go on vacation for 20 days, but not everything goes as planned. the quirks of being a boss is that when something rocks the boat, you have to stay on board. so i'll enjoy these 4 days off as if it were vacation because on monday, i'm back on the grind.
been catching up with the art world here in são paulo and it makes me so happy. nothing too grand or new, to be frank, but i did go see vik muniz's and escher's exhibitions.
vik muniz was way too obvious for me, i couldn't handle the whole thing and walked out halfway through. i feel it was superficial conceptually and it did not speak to me at all.
and escher's always good to see and it was a total impulsive invitation, which i love, but despite being marvelled at his skills and quality of work, and happy that it was so interactive that it became educational, escher's always escher. not sure if that's a good or a bad thing, if i dare say so. i feel like all his works have always been viewed so again, no surprises. i remember seeing an exhibition of his in greece and they showed the actual woodblocks. not the prints, but the actual wood he had carved. for some reason, that showed more of the process itself and it was a highlight for me. but still, very accessible to anyone and optical illusions are fun to try to "figure out." i think for the most part, i enjoyed the visit with, again, an impulsive invitation from a friend and meeting new people that came with us.
