this poem is not 100% my moment right now but grasps the jist of this phase.
um dia ensolarado
alguém do meu lado
um canto para relaxar
um tempo para me cuidar
muita saúde para amar
muito dinheiro para gastar
não me preocupar com a hora
e me dar um presente agora."
(i deserve
a sunny day
someone by my side
a song to relax with
a time to take care of myself
a lot of health to love
a lot of money to spend
not worry about the time
and give myself a gift now)
thinking a lot about aesthetics and where it blurs with health. surprisingly, i find it more and more related. you know those people with beautiful hair and baby butt skin and they just look rested and we get a pinch of jealousy? well, they take care of themselves not only for beauty, but sometimes, in some aspects, beauty is health. to get that filling in your teeth replaced because it's a tad on the old side (functional but stained), to use the cream recommended by your dermatologist (when your skin is fine usually but a bit blotchy), to buy the right shampoo for you (no big problems there either but now, all of a sudden, your hair just curls the right way)...
i'm usually against the current when it comes to exaggerations and i thought brasil (with an S, cannot spell that one with a Z) was always exaggeratedly oriented on looks. well, it is. but some of it, makes sense. so i give myself the time and space to take care of myself and it turns out, a lot of the aesthetics is a result of health. feels even better now to floss, doesn't it? (other than the self esteem results from taking care of yourself and your image. hey, it's true... it does feel good)
