haven't posted in a while. i've been rather introspective and pondering over what to write about. i want to gather things from the outside right now and bring that here. lucky me there's more than one art opening per night this week.
i must add quickly though that i did have an amazing lunch today with very interesting conversations. it's exciting to meet someone interesting that has an opinion that isn't strictly formed yet. or maybe he's just not stubborn, that's all. it even inspired me to maybe get back into some creating. i miss having ideas. the more ideas u have, the more ideas u have. isn't that so logical? hee hee.
(but just from lunch today, i already, on the drive home, had an idea for an artwork that ponders how u choose ur life by decisions u make and maybe it is that simple. everyone has a different point of view (thank god) despite living the same exact moment and being present in a shared situation. i was wondering what people think about when they're stuck in traffic. what attitudes they take on and how much u can, in fact, choose your attitude. hm... material for videos here)
anyway, we talked about making art, concepts, whether or not being in a gallery validates u a bit so it's easier to trust yourself from then on and share, artworks that are on show at the museum i work at, the museu de arte moderna de são paulo, whether or not it was a good placement of some works as far as museography, the dialogues created between artists that neither of us saw coming but felt it worked alright. am i being too vague?
also, quit halfway through last book and started isabel allende's la suma de los días. (the sum of our days) allende just might be one of my all time top favorite author of all times.
some quotes (i'm reading it in spanish so translation might not be exact):
"smelling his surprising young man smell that has not changed with the passing of the yrs"
"these every day routines unite us more than the uproars of passion"
"according to willie, i have fifty versions of how our love started and all of them are right"
"we cried together and the sum of our sadness triggered a hail storm"
"there are three basic rules that he applies in his human relationships: nothing is personal, every person is responsible for his/her own feelings, life is not fair."
i love her. :)
