lately, i've simply been introspective and very calm. i feel like i have a good focus on my mind. i've been realizing why i do things and by understanding the reasons, i feel better at doing them. i have focused on feel good moments and what i already have, as opposed to before when i focused on what i was missing.
what do i have? good friends that come over and do nothing together at my place. a great cat, now 5 years old, that is great company. a supermarket nearby where i can go and pick up 2 items before going home making life real simple. "road to perdition" that i haven't watched yet but it's sitting on my quasi-coffee table, therefore easily available for whenever i feel like it. (by the way, loved "godfather 1". will rent others asap) family nearby that i can hang out with as well and do fun outside activities because the cousins already have kids that are 4 years old. a job that even if it is a good position at the museum i work at it's not stressful at all and can get creative if i allow it to. a whole bag of stickers from when i was a kid that i can now use freely.
i've also been taking myself a little more seriously and that validates me even more as a person. i guess it is a boost of self esteem/self respect. everyone should try it. to me, it means to acknowledge that yes, some things i am good at. and those things are usually worth investing in. example: i was invited to do a guest appearance at an artist book workshop to teach people about bookbinding. that, in itself, gave me a nudge and therefore i've also been looking at myself as someone who, yes, knows about bookbinding. so i've been doing things that i hadn't tried before that i can handle and accomplish. i'll post some pictures of the new notebooks i've been binding. i am still somehow amazed that they look professional. doesn't seem to be a surprise to anybody else around me though. (do other people have trouble saying "i am good at..." as well?)
anyways... have a good thursday to u that are still reading this blog. i appreciate the interaction. i hope u acknowledge your qualities and carry them proudly as i am learning to do so. i think this is good advice.
