wednesday evening the museu da casa brasileira (museum of the brazilian home, http://www.mcb.sp.gov.br) is open till late. saw an exhibition about bamboo, mostly spoons. beautiful form. definitely sculptures. and arranged as inspiring graphic design.
also with a poem by axel kufus: (translation after poem)
abrir um ovo
medir o chá
adoçar meu café
bater na panela
retirar os caroços do tomate
acordar os vizinhos de mesa
misturar gesso
misturar areia fina
esmagar uma formiga
insistir em ser ouvido
seguir o compasso
dar comida ao ancião
tomar sopa bem quente
ajudar a comer macarrão
escavar a abóbora
raspar a tigela
rapar os restos
chamar pra comer
adicionar a clara batida
misturar vinagre com azeite
provar o molho
tirar um amassado
inspecionar a garganta
futucar uma verruga
enterrar o pequeno pássaro
quebrar um jato de água
servir-se de recursos ilimitados
sorver sabedoria
equilibrar um ovo cru
e um dia ter que devolvê-la.
english:
to open an egg
to measure tea
to sweeten my coffee
to hit the pan
to remove the pits from the tomato
to wake up the neighbor[ing] table
to mix gesso
to mix thin sand
to smash an ant
to insist in being heard
to follow the beat
to feed the elder
to eat really hot soup
to aid in eating pasta
to dig the pumpkin
to scrape the bowl
to rapar (similar to scrape) the leftovers
to call for food
to add the beaten white
to mix vinegar with olive oil
to taste the sauce
to remove what dent
to inspect the throat
to poke a wart
to bury the tiny bird
to break a water spout
to serve oneself of unlimited resources
to sip wisdom
to balance a raw egg
and one day to have to return it.
