:: impressions on a violin ::

some notes from a concert last night.
maestro: marin alsop
violin: renaud capuçon

string instruments in unisson: #unbeatable.
nothing better than harmony.
how can a shell made out of wood with strings attached to it have such personality?
while they were all playing, i could pick out one violin player with a scratchy eye and the sniffles that day. i smiled. i like individuality. he shows a new (very human?) perspective for me. different light.
:: about renaud capuçon
impossible to play without emotion.
i like that he played with his eyes closed.
so comfortable with the violin, he literally places, feels, shows it as an extension of his body.
you can tell when his violin takes a breath.
takes it seriously.
:: about capuçon's solo
one of the biggest rituals, when the 4th clapping round came, the soloist decided to come back and strike a few notes and all. all. sat in pure in silence.
almost felt like a miracle moment.
somehow, it's like we needed this moment in order to go on living.
i feel blessed.
he put weight to air.
it was cautious, tense yet good.
