good morning. actually night over here but who can resist breakfast food no matter what time of day it is? well, just thinking about this fantastic place, one of my favorites in são paulo. i also feel it's a bit of a hideout since it's so small and not a lot of people know it. i guess it feels like a subculture to me. and i've been noticing patterns in my likes & disklikes and i'm a fan of subculture.
anyways, this bakery is ultra special. all natural organic baked-on-the-spot delicious treats for the mouth. it's called PAO. in portuguese stands for Padaria Artesanal Orgânica. A play on words really because pão means bread and the acronym stands for organic artisan (?) bakery. it has three of the world's tiniest tables and the whole place is made of wood, inside and out. it reminds me of hirise bakery a bit for those of you with a boston reference.
speaking of subcultures, i took 3 hours off on friday and went to a course on how to make a better coffee at home. very sweet. turns out i know more than i thought i knew so the course didn't add a tremendous amount of info. learned some differences in beans, arabica & robusta, and got clearer on how tos of a french press x italian percolator. but i might go into a deeper course, 3 full days, and become a barista (professional coffee maker)! or a coffee degustation course. i'll be as good a coffee connoisseur as some wine people. that'd be awesome.
well, fans of subcultures, good night to you all.
oh, ps: for those of you here in são paulo, PAO is at bela cintra near franca! see you there.
