short and sweet: happy holidays to all!
hope it's warm, fuzzy, chocolatey; full of family, smiles, food, people, hugs, gifts, trees, colors, decorations, santas and of course, the classic, reindeers! (!?)
other than that, greece has been good so far. great seeing and hanging out with friends i had from before. i love "hanging out." it's the beauty of having the intimacy and freedom of not doing anything together and being happy because of it. funny, though, to see how much athens has changed and how that feels. mixed feelings definitely. it's good and it sounds normal for a city and its people to change over time but i can only say i appreciate that when i use the rational part of my brain. thinking of only feelings, it doesn't feel so great. it's like a city's moved on and you don't know it any longer. it's like going back and visiting the city where you were for university and now, your favorite cafe is no longer there. and the current inhabitants have taken over what was once your habitat. is there a name for this feeling? it's not nostalgia because the city you knew and called home (sorry for cliches) doesn't even exist anymore on this planet, on this dimension. feels very much like a fairy tale with a bit of sadness in it. but still, being here in the "new" athens, i'm glad it still feels comfortable. relieving.
