i usually do not read about cancer at all because i confess, i don't have a lot of patience, having had it myself. but i came across an interview with dr. david servan-schreiber this morning and i really like his outlook on it and i can accept the whole thing even one more step further after reading it. this will be a very general and not-exact translation but it gives u a good idea, i hope.
in his book anticancer - a new way of life he affirms that the emotional brain has all the adaptation and healing mechanisms that can be learned by natural methods. he says that "we have a lot of natural defenses against cancer. and quite frequently, they are enough to prevent that cancer will develop; but none of these defenses are enough to heal a disease when it is already there." when asked about the relation of lifestyle, emotional state and cancer he answers: "to feel hopeless and impotent towards life does not cause cancer, but these emotional states induce the liberation of cortisol and noradrenaline. that hurts the functioning of the immune system and can cause inflamation." i think what he says is very interesting. he goes on: "isolation and lack of social, more intimate, contact is one of the main emotional difficulties of people today. not being alone is what normally protects us from tension and stress that come up in our lives. the more alone we are, the more difficult it is for our organism to face life's difficulties."
i think i like that this philosophy, taken with a grain of salt, applies to day to day challenges. maybe even more so when going through a bit of a whirlwind, i do believe it is extremely important that my mind, body and soul (clichés aside) pull together so i can maintain myself healthy.
