well, for todays post i will reply to one of the comments that got me thinking and i apologize for not having an “ask julie” column (i am flattered that someone suggested it, thank u) but being that i do this blog on my own, it is rather easy to reach me. an anonymous well-phrased person asked a few things after the last post and here are my thoughts. basically, the question was (u can read the original comment after the july 1 post): how can i combine happiness and reality? i think “being happy with the reality we have” is the easiest answer. i think we have to be able to accept things we cant change and make lemonade out of really bad lemons sometimes. im reading hellinger's loves hidden symmetry and he was defining humility. i paraphrase here but from what i gathered, being humble means accepting the world the way it is. he goes further and says that only after accepting will perception be possible. if u dont accept, things like fear, desires and judgments interfere with your perception. i agree, to some extent. when i accept, things do become a bit more rational. (as u, anonymous commenter said, when it comes to happiness and being realistic: one comes from the heart, the other one from the mind) so maybe some steps i take with my heart and others, with my mind.
lets say situation is not that good right now. i feel it with my heart. i, then, choose to accept it with my mind. and next, i can deal with reality and feel again. after having accepted, it is easier to let go of some things and easier to be happy about them.
i really dont mean to be cliche about it but one of the best lines is really the one about accepting things u cant change, changing the things u can and hopefully always knowing the difference.
u cant change some facts of life. u cant change diseases and who they come to. u cant change other people and how they are and how much they give u or how much of a priority u are/arent to them. u cant change the weather. u cant change the economical situation of a country.
but u can choose your attitude. u can try every treatment existent and u can have faith that things will be okay and trust life somehow. u can choose who u give yourself to and very easily, u can delete people off your life when theyre not good for u. (using logic and not feelings, on that one) u can switch countries, get a 2nd job, change jobs... u can do a lot to shape your life the way u want it. but there is no point, i feel, in fighting the current. fighting the current is wasted time and energy in my opinion. u have to go with the flow, learn how to surf, make lemonade out of sour lemons, accept what u cant change.

hope that helped... much love to my anonymous intelligent sensitive commenter, whoever u are. thank u.
