i keep bumping into the same curiosities i've always had. every time i meet an interesting person, i want to ask, nick hornby style: "top 5 must reads of all times"? i'm curious and i think a person's books can say so much about him/her. i remember, freshmen year in college, my roomate kristy and i did a swap. her favorite: ayn rand's we the living and one of mine: 1984 by george orwell. i love exchanging things like that. u understand the person a tad more.
what are people's favorites? also, there's always room for improvement and learning. unfortunately, we can't physically pick on brains yet. so for learning more from other people, i'll read what they've read. (by the way, i strongly recommend isabel allende, paul auster and chris ware for now...)

this came up at work today as well, the more education, the better. why not, right?
so i, a person with a background in fine arts, is considering getting an MBA. a masters in business administration. this is an initial idea but already, i'm optimistic, and again, why not? at work, i feel people usually grow in the area that they're in. so u start out as a subordinate in a department and u grow in it and become the coordinator. but most of the time, the person's expertise is in the subject matter of the department, but not in managing. i'm excited to understand the business aspect of it more. how to manage people, what problems usually come up in the financial and administrative section of a business, how to solve it, what it entails... ooh, i'm a nerd probably, but this is exciting. it's just an important mass of skills that will probably come in handy at all points in life, no matter what area you're in. (just like the everything-i-need-to-know-i-learned-in-kindergarten t-shirts... just kidding)
